At the traditional meeting of the Air Force, marking 31 years since the establishment of the Air Force Aviation Library, our student Ivan Garkov from 11C grade was personally invited by Colonel Delyana Furlinska, secretary to the Commander of the Air Force – Major General Dimitar Petrov. Ivan delivered a speech for the second time in memory of one of the forgotten pioneers of Bulgarian aviation, Lieutenant Vladimir Alexandrov Balan. This time, the focus also included the concept of enlightenment, fitting the occasion of the event.

Accompanying him were students from 11C grade – Stanimir Stoyanov, Danail Hinkov, Alexander Zdravkov, and Nikola Koev. They were all introduced to the audience with a formal announcement.

We proudly share the conclusion of Ivan’s speech here as a source of inspiration:

“The most important lesson I took from this ‘flying memory’ of Vladimir Balan is that if a person strongly desires to achieve their dreams, there is nothing impossible in this world. We must know what we want, never give up, and fight to the very end to reach even greater heights. We should face all challenges with an open mind and determination, seeing them as windows to new opportunities. As the saying goes, the finest diamonds are born under pressure. It’s better to seize the moment now than regret later for not doing so. Influential figures like Balan stand out as contemporary enlighteners who, through bravery and sacrifice, drive society toward prosperity and progress in every field. I am just beginning to discover myself, but individuals like this sky warrior inspire me to continue climbing the steps of success and to believe in the hope of tomorrow.”
