The Greengnorance partnership held its Transnational Partner Meeting (TPM) in Brussels, Belgium, on 21–22 April 2026. The meeting was hosted by EUROGEO, a European non-profit organisation for geographers, bringing together project partners from across Europe to review progress, share experiences from piloting, and plan the next steps in strengthening environmental education in high schools.
Although EUROGEO does not operate from a central office, the organisation is legally based in Belgium. For this reason, Brussels was chosen as the location for the meeting. The city, often regarded as the de facto capital of Europe due to its role as the seat of major European institutions, provided a fitting setting for a project built on European cooperation.
During the two-day meeting, partners presented updates on the piloting of the Greengnorance Toolkit in their schools. These sessions provided valuable insights into how students engage with sustainability topics such as energy, water, and responsible consumption. The exchange of feedback allowed partners to strengthen both the content and the pedagogical approach of the materials.
The meeting also focused on the alignment between the Toolkit and the Teachers’ Guidebook. Partners discussed how psychological insights and motivational strategies can be effectively integrated into classroom practice, supporting teachers in addressing not only knowledge but also behaviour and attitudes towards climate change. It was emphasised that a positive and forward-looking approach, focusing on hope and agency, is key to effectively engaging students and fostering a sustainable future.
The programme included discussions on project management, quality assessment, and dissemination strategies. Partners worked on improving reporting processes, planning future networking events, and developing policy recommendations to maximise the project’s long-term impact. Special attention was given to the translation and online accessibility of the Toolkit, ensuring that the materials can be widely used across different countries and educational contexts.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of collaboration within the international partnership. Moments of exchange were not limited to formal sessions, but also emerged during team-building activities that strengthened the connection between partners.
The Brussels meeting marked an important milestone in the Greengnorance project. The next phase will focus on completing the piloting process and expanding impact-building activities at both national and European levels. The programme concluded with a visit to the Parlamentarium, highlighting the European context in which the project operates and its connection to institutions that support cooperation across countries.
In a time of growing global uncertainty and shifting political dynamics within Europe, the Greengnorance partnership underlines the importance of collaboration and shared responsibility. Addressing environmental challenges requires working across borders, disciplines, and cultures, and education plays a key role in preparing young people to engage with these challenges.
