Welcome to the

Maths Program

How can young people develop the skills they need to succeed in a world where mathematics and technology lie at the heart of every major discovery and innovation?

The Mathematics Profile develops strong logical and analytical thinking by combining the theoretical foundations of mathematics with their practical applications in science, engineering, and data analysis. Students learn to tackle complex problems, identify patterns, and use mathematical models to describe and predict real-world processes.

Alongside English, the core profile subjects are Mathematics and Physics & Astronomy, studied in greater depth to provide a solid foundation for further education in technical, engineering, natural science, and economics-related fields. To develop a broader scientific understanding, students also study Chemistry.

The profile is ideal for high school students with an interest in the exact sciences who approach information analytically, look for logical solutions, and are curious about the patterns and principles that shape the world around us.

Mathematics

Mathematics education builds on students’ existing knowledge through four specialized modules.

The Geometry module covers vectors and coordinates, elements of linear algebra, analytical geometry, and solid geometry, providing a foundation for modern engineering and technological applications.

The Elements of Mathematical Analysis module introduces students to functions, numerical sequences, derivatives, and integrals. They develop methods for exploring mathematical relationships and build skills in modelling and analysing processes using mathematical tools.

In Practical Mathematics, students apply their knowledge to real-world problems through mathematical analysis, geometric modelling, combinatorics, and the use of empirical data. They develop the ability to use mathematics as a tool for informed decision-making and solving practical problems.

The Probability and Data Analysis module focuses on statistics and modern approaches to processing and interpreting information. Students study probability, random variables, binomial and normal distributions, statistical inference, and correlation — concepts with wide-ranging applications in science, business, and technology.

Physics and astronomy

Physics and Astronomy education provides students with an in-depth understanding of the laws of nature and their applications in modern science and technology.

In the Motion and Energy module, students explore motion in space using vectors and angular quantities, while analysing momentum, mechanical equilibrium, harmonic oscillations, and fluid mechanics.

The Fields and Energy module expands students’ understanding of electromagnetic phenomena and the principle of superposition. Particular attention is given to wave optics and phenomena such as polarization and coherence, which underpin a wide range of modern technologies.

In Experimental Physics, students develop scientific research skills through hands-on work with measuring instruments, analysis of experimental results, and the application of error analysis. Practical experiments encourage independent problem-solving and develop the skills needed for scientific work.

The Atoms, Waves and Quanta and Modern Physics modules turn students’ attention to phenomena at the microscopic scale and in the universe. Students are introduced to the foundations of quantum physics, relativistic effects, statistical physics, and astronomy, as well as current topics such as energy efficiency and modern applications of the physical sciences.

The Mathematics Profile prepares students for further education in fields such as mathematics, computer science, engineering, physics, economics, data analysis, and other high-tech disciplines. It provides not only a strong academic foundation but also develops logical thinking, sound reasoning, and complex problem-solving skills — qualities that are essential for the careers of the future.
